Extramet Products is an independently owned and operated company created for the sole purpose of its customer’s success. Beginning in 1998 the company started on the path of constant improvement. Today the company stocks the finest European and American carbide materials in rod and shape form. The company performs warehousing, cutting, center less and form grinding to support the client’s needs. Single items or regular release are easily handled. The company is known for quality materials along with great customer service and reliability.

US Operations Time Line

1980
Extramet AG was founded in 1980 in central Switzerland. The company started as a three man operation purely involved in the manufacturing.
1996
Micron industries is founded with the purpose to provide customers quality ground tungsten carbide material.
1988
Micron Industries partners with the Swiss manufacturer Extramet AG and changes its name to Extramet Products
2000
Extramet Products moves to a new location in Latrobe, PA where it increases production and capabilities to meet the customer’s needs.
2002
Extramet Products began supplying ground step blanks to help cut down on customer’s processes which in turn cut down their lead time, and most importantly their scrap levels.
2012
Extramet invests in new CNC grinding equipment to increase blank prep capabilities
2016
An additional 10,000 sqft expansion to accommodate CNC capacity, increasing output and decreasing lead times
2021
Added grinding technology with automation to decrease lead time on step blanks prep
