The aerospace industry turns to Extramet for the most durable, reliable carbide available. Diverse grade options enable customers to choose the best products for specific applications.

Submicron Grades
EMT 100: Extreme hardness, exceptional wear characteristics, TRS (Transverse Rupture Strength) and rigidity make EMT 100 ideal for reamers, straight flute drills, boring bars, end mills, nozzles, guides, punches, core rods, gauges, wear parts and certain water jet components.
EMT 100 is highly recommended for diamond coating applications. (Note: When ordering, please specify if your EMT 100 will be used for diamond coating so that a special prepping process can be executed. There is no charge for this service.)
EMT 100 is available from stock or as preformed rods (solid, one straight hole or two straight holes) and rectangles.
EMT 210: A combination of strength and wear resistance makes EMT 210 the optimal grade for helical coolant drills, step drills, end mills, coated reamers, drill bushings, punches, core rods and inserted tools.
EMT 210 is available from stock or as preformed rods (solid, one straight hole, two straight holes or helical) and rectangles.
Ultra-Fine Grades
EMT 609: For high speed milling of steels harder than 60 HRC and the machining of new composite materials, EMT 609 is ideal.
EMT 612: EMT 612 is recommended for roughing, turning and drilling materials to a hardness of 64 HRC, primarily alloy steel, cast iron, stainless and nickel alloys.
EMT 609 and EMT 612 should be used only when machine tools are equipped with adequate horsepower and rigidity. Special geometries and coatings may also be required for the greatest efficiency and cost savings.
EMT 609 and EMT 612 are available from stock as solid rods or as special manufactured parts that require coolant holes, centers, steps and flutes. Both grades are a superb choice for micro-tools due to their grain/tool size ratios.
If you’re looking for a custom solution, our QUICK START program reduces lead times and minimizes delays during development. The Extramet Manufacturing Research & Development (MR&D) partnership program is designed to aid engineers and help reduce development costs during initial production set-ups and efficiency boost initiatives. As a result, Extramet’s prototype deliveries are the fastest in the industry. Application-specific grades to suit specialized needs can also be manufactured in small lots.
Additionally, a fully integrated contingency plan exists through the Extramet Global Network, which guarantees the delivery of good should a natural or man-made disaster affect any Extramet manufacturing facility.
